After twenty-nine years, the last four years serving as President and CEO, Mr. David Schandel recently retired with Florida Health Care Plans.
“I’m very grateful for Dave’s leadership and his deep commitment to the employees, patients, and communities that FHCP serves,” Elana Schrader, MD, Senior Vice President of Health Care Services at Florida Blue and President of GuideWell Health said. “Through his leadership, FHCP has grown to 32 care sites which serve more than 100,000 members in five counties."
FHCP is excited to announce that Stephen Keen, MD, FAAFP, has been appointed the new FHCP President and Chief Executive Officer. Dr. Keen joined FHCP in 2013 as a primary care physician and has held several roles across multiple divisions in FHCP during his tenure, including Vice President of Business Operations and Medical Director of Utilization, Quality and Case Management. “One of the reasons I started to get involved in the business side of medicine was because of my experience in caring for patients in the community,” Dr. Keen said. “I saw that it was very important to have clinical experience and leadership on some of the decision-making bodies inside of the organization.” We congratulate Dr. Keen on his new leadership role.
As we enter our 50th year of operations, FHCP welcomes our new leadership and our continued commitment to providing quality care and positively impacting the lives of individuals and families that we serve within our community.
